What kinds of recreational activities and entertainment does the island offer?
There's so many to choose from...your biggest problem will be deciding which to do first! You'll be able to enjoy fresh and salt water fishing, canoeing, kayaking, boating, bicycling, rollerblading, windsurfing, fitness facilities, tennis, golf, swimming, snorkelling, and world famous shelling.

Or, visit Sanibel's famous Ding Darling wildlife refuge, historical village, the Bailey Matthews Shell Museum, the Historic Sanibel Lighthouse, specialty shops, restaurants, or the Sanibel Day Spa. Then of course there's the option of enjoying spectacular sunsets, beach walks, dancing, evenings at the theatre, video rentals, and much more! Bikes, jet-ski and parasailing can all be booked from YOLO in Andy Rosse Lane.

What if I have special requests?
Cribs, rollaway beds and other child care or guest convenience items are offered at an additional charge and should be arranged prior to arrival. Gifts, guest baskets, grocery services, etc. can also be arranged with our agents Royal Shell prior to your arrival. If you should require it, maid service can be arranged as well.

What if I need to receive mail, faxes, or e-mail while I'm on vacation?
Not a problem. Please arrange to have any mail sent to you in care of Royal Shell Vacations at their office (14970 Captiva Drive Captiva Island, Florida 33924 USA) which is located at the junction with Wightman Lane. Royal Shell can also arrange for you to have a temporary internet access account set up for you while you're staying with us, or guests may also visit their office and use one of their online computers to access E-mail free of charge. They will also be glad to arrange for the rental of a fax machine.

Can You telephone the UK from the house?
All local calls are free, long distance telephone calls within the USA will be charged at 9.5 cents per minute, international calls i.e. to the UK are charged at 15.5 cents per minute.

We would strongly recommend that you purchase a long distance calling card which will work out considerably cheaper. The cards can be purchased at Baileys, Jerry’s or the 7-11 stores on Sanibel or the Island Store on Captiva.

How do you get to Captiva?
We always hire a car and drive direct to Captiva. Our agents have a key box at their Periwinkle Way office so even if you are arriving out side of office hours you can pick up the keys and directions to the house.

Is it better to fly to Orlando or Miami?
We prefer to fly into Miami as the drive to Captiva is shorter. Also we have experienced more delays getting through Orlando airport

Is there a more local airport to Captiva?
Southwest Florida International Airport is 40 minutes away at Fort Myers for schedules look at their website http://www.swfia.com.

Can I fly to Fort Myers?
Flights are available direct to Fort Meyers from both Miami and Orlando it is approximately a 45 minutes flight

Can you organise transport from the airports to Captiva?
There are a number of limousine companies that will collect and deliver you to and from the airports, call or email us and we will provide details or get them booked for you.

Do you need a car?
Once at the house a car is not a necessity as restaurants, small shops, boating and fishing are all with in easy walking distance.

Are there laundry facilities?
The house has a laundry room on the first and on the ground floor, both fully equipped with washing machine and tumble driers. There is also a line for hanging washing in the garage.

Is Captiva safe for children?
Captiva was made for children, the beach is long and wide and the sea is smooth and warm. The traffic is sparse and moves slowly, all the restaurants welcome children it is a real safe family environment.

Does the house have air conditioning in every room?
Yes.

Does the house have CD, Video and DVD players?
The main lounge has a very wide screen digital cable TV, VCR, DVD and Sound system which works through the whole house. There are also TV’s in the master bedrooms and the lounge area on the first floor, four TV’s in total all linked to cable channels.

Are there inflatable boats, fishing rods at the house?
There should be inflatable boats, pool toys and fishing rods at the house, however these do sometimes get broken or taken. All equipment is used at your own risk.
